What services does IMPŌ offer?
IMPŌ offers a fast and user-friendly online tax return service in addition to personalized support from a team of Raymond Chabot Grant Thornton experts. IMPŌ allows you to maximize your tax credits in no time.

How does IMPŌ work ?
IMPŌ is a quick and easy six-step process.
- Request a quotation on impo.ca. Enter your details and accept your online quotation on our website.
- Build your profile. Quickly create your profile by entering your email address and selecting a password.
- Upload your tax slips and receipts. At any time during the year (whether you’re organized or last minute), you can take a picture of the important documents related to your personal taxes and upload them.
- Submit your file. Once you’ve uploaded all your documents, you can submit them on our secure platform.
- Wait until your tax return has been prepared. Our experts prepare income tax returns within a maximum of 10 working days.
- Approve and sign your tax returns. Once your returns have been prepared, all you have to do is approve and sign them. We’ll transmit them to the tax authorities.
Who can use the IMPŌ service?
All taxpayers who want to have their income tax returns filed by professional tax preparers without having to visit an office can use IMPŌ. This service is offered to both Quebecers and Canadians, regardless of whether they’re employees, self-employed, retirees, newcomers, students or rental property owners. When you choose IMPŌ, our experts will ensure that your tax credits are maximized.
Is there a IMPŌ application?
Yes, there is! Our mobile application (impo) can be downloaded on both iPhones and Android phones. Regardless of your location, it allows you to easily manage your tax return and upload and access your tax documents at all times.
How is the IMPŌ process so fast?
IMPŌ was designed to be both fast and efficient. You can answer questions and upload copies of your tax slips using your mobile phone, tablet or computer. You don’t have to make an appointment with an accountant or travel to an office. The entire process is managed online so you can save quite a lot of time.
What if I want to speak to an expert?
The first step involves filling in a questionnaire and uploading your documents. Then you can enter any questions you have in the comments section before submitting your file. Our expert will answer all your questions while preparing your tax returns. They’ll contact you by telephone or email or on the portal, as necessary.
Pricing and the tax return process
How do you calculate my quotation?
The price of your quotation is calculated based on your answers to our online form questions. If you require a quotation that reflects your situation, you can contact us by dialing 1 844 200-IMPO (4676).
Do I have to travel to submit my documents?
No, you don’t! All your documents must be digitized and uploaded to our secure IMPŌ portal. You can upload your documents to our IMPŌ application using your smartphone, tablet or computer without leaving home.
Which payment methods do you accept?
We accept credit card and prepaid credit card payments only. You can purchase prepaid credit cards at pharmacies, convenience stores, Canada Post offices and your bank. Then you can make your payment on our user-friendly and secure payment service. If you require assistance, feel free to contact us by dialing 1 844 200-IMPO (4676).
How long does it take to prepare my tax returns?
Once you’ve submitted your file, your tax returns will be ready within about 10 business days. If we require additional information or documents, a team member will contact you promptly.
How do you transmit my tax returns?
We usually transmit tax returns electronically (using EFILE). However, there are certain exceptions. For example, post-bankruptcy returns and first tax returns for newcomers must be submitted by mail. Visit the Canada Revenue Agency and Revenu Québec websites to view the list of EFILE exclusions and restrictions.
Who will file my tax return?
Our personal income tax experts will file your returns. Our team members receive ongoing training so they’re always up to date regarding tax developments.
What types of tax returns do you file?
We file all types of tax returns for income earned in Canada, except for returns for deceased persons. If you require a tax return for a deceased person, please contact Raymond Chabot Grant Thornton by visiting rcgt.com or dialing 1 844 200-IMPO (4676).
Can you access my tax documents if I can’t find them?
Don’t worry, we’ll be able to access most of your tax slips once we receive your signed proxy forms. These forms allow us to represent you with the tax authorities and to access your tax statements. Please note that you can change or revoke this authorization or proxy at any time by completing the “Revocation of authorization to communicate information or of power of attorney” form.
What if I want to file tax returns for income earned prior to the current year?
Generally, you can only declare income earned within the 10 previous calendar years. However, it’s not too late to file an income tax return for any of the previous 10 years. Contact us and our experts will help you to meet your tax obligations.

Is the IMPŌ platform secure?
Absolutely. The IMPŌ service is secure since all the transactions are conducted using a username and password that you created and registered on the secure website. IMPŌ is a subsidiary of Raymond Chabot Grant Thornton, which ensures that you benefit from the most reliable tax expertise and best security practices. What software does IMPŌ use?
The IMPŌ portal is unique and user-friendly and the software is the same as that used by Raymond Chabot Grant Thornton’s renowned experts.
Can I fill in my form on a mobile device or tablet?
Yes, both Android and iOS devices are fully supported. You can use the IMPŌ application on any mobile device or tablet.
Can I access the IMPŌ portal on a smartphone or tablet or do I need to use a computer?
You can request and accept a quotation on any computer, tablet or telephone that has Internet access. Once you accept your quotation, you’ll be asked to create a profile on the IMPŌ portal. Then you can download the mobile application IMPO at no cost.
What kind of computer do I need to use IMPŌ?
For optimal performance, we recommend using a high-speed Internet connection and a computer with the following software:
- Windows computers: Microsoft Edge or the latest version of the Google Chrome or Mozilla Firefox browsers;
- Mac computers: The latest version of Safari, Mozilla Firefox or Google Chrome.
Documentation and processing timeline
Which documents do I need to gather to use IMPŌ?
IMPŌ will show a list of the documents and slips required to process your income tax returns. This information is available in the “Documents” section of the “Suggested documents” tab. You’ll need all your tax slips and statements, receipts and other supporting documents related to your income and expenses for the year to prepare your income tax returns on IMPŌ. You must also provide a copy of your returns and notices of assessment for the tax year in question.
When do I have to file my tax returns?
The deadline for filing income tax returns of individuals is determined each year by the tax authorities and is generally April 30 of the following year. However, if you or your spouse earned self-employment income, you have until June 15 to submit your income tax returns. Please note that in the event of late income tax payments, interest and penalties will be applied to the unpaid balance.
For how long should I keep my tax documents?
It’s recommended that you keep your supporting documents for at least six years even if you file your tax returns online. The tax authorities can request these documents at a later date. You should also keep a copy of your tax returns and related notices of assessment or reassessment.
At what age do I have to start filing tax returns?
Regardless of age or the source of their income, everyone who earns income must file an income tax return. You must declare your gains to claim potential tax credits and avoid any future complications with the tax authorities.
